CSAFE
(Collaborative Supervision and Focused Enforcement)
Community Highlights
- The Queen Anne's County CSAFE Community includes the towns of Grasonville, Chester, and Stevensville. These towns have been historically separated by the Kent Narrows Bridge. The HotSpot Initiative now renamed CSAFE has brought these three communities together.
- Natural Resources Police have joined forces with Queen Anne's County Sheriff's Office and Maryland State Police. The Queen Anne's County Department of Animal Control has partnered with Queen Anne's County Sheriff's Office. These new partnerships create an even greater crime fighting base.
When spider webs unite, they can tie up a lion. - ETHIOPIA - During 1998 the CSAFE Community accounted for a large portion of the total violent crime, but crime is down in the CSAFE Community. A reduction in property thefts by 27 incidents, reduction in Breaking & Entering by 22 incidents and reduction in auto thefts by 3 incidents.
Hope is the pillar of the world. - KANURI - Safety issues continue to center around open air drug dealing and substance abuse. We have developed a summer program for each community and are anxious to begin the school year with new after school programs being implemented for each community. We have a quarterly newsletter to keep the community up to date. We had a very successful "Family Nite Out" and recently a "Block Party" that attracted over 300 community members. We know these events will become an annual attraction.
- 1999's process involved over 100 citizens attending the monthly potluck dinners. At each meeting various community issues were addressed and the entire community continues to play a critical role in making this HotSpot so successful.
Success is never a destination; it's a journey. - SATENIG ST.MARIE
