PRESS RELEASE

INCIDENT: Shot Fired Striking House

DATE / TIME: 4/19/2017 @ 2023 Hours

LOCATION: 203 Benton’s Pleasure Road, Chester, MD

DETAILS: Victim was at her kitchen table helping her kids complete their homework when a loud bang and a hole in the wall

occurred in the same room. She got the kids to a different part of the house and called 911. No one was injured.

Emergency personnel responded as the initial dispatch was for an explosion. Upon arrival it was determined to have been a shotgun slug which was located.

Additional deputies responded and began canvasing the area. One nearby resident reported hearing the bang, originally thinking it was a transformer. Another resident in the home reported hearing shots earlier in the week.

On Monday several reports of four to seven gunshots were received from the Cox Neck area and Dominion. Sheriff’s units responded and patrolled the area but did not locate anything.

The Sheriff’s Office has received several others calls about shots fired in Stevensville and Grasonville over the past two months, however they do not appear related to the calls on Cox Creek.

Sheriff Hofmann is asking anyone with information about the gun shots to call the Queen Anne’s Sheriff’s Office at (410) 758-0770 or email at sheriff-info@qac.org.
