INCIDENT:           Fraud / Scam

DATE / TIME:      11/25/2015 @ 1442 Hours (reported)

LOCATION:         Stevensville, MD

 

DETAILS:              The victim, an 87 year old Stevensville resident reported that he had received a phone call from an unknown individual stating it was his grandson. The caller advised he had been involved in a motor vehicle accident involving the death of a child and that he needed bail money.

The victim believing it was his grandson agreed to post his bail and wired $1800 to a location in Maine. After sending the money, the victim received a second call from “grandson” requesting an additional $1700 which was also sent.

The victim later learned that his grandson was in college in the western portion of the US.

Investigation revealed the two money transfers could be accessed from mobile kiosk anywhere in the world.

INCIDENT:           Theft under $1000

LOCATION:         1600 Block of Bayside Drive, Chester, MD

 

DETAILS:              Victim reported that her new prescription glasses valued at $600 delivered by the US Postal Service had been stolen from her mailbox. Tracking numbers indicate the package was delivered on the 13th of November.

INCIDENT:           Traffic / Possession of CDS

DATE / TIME:      11/25/2015 @ 2206 Hours

LOCATION:         RT 8 @ Sonny Schultz Blvd, Stevensville

 

DETAILS:              Red Toyota Tacoma pickup was stopped for 15 MPH over the Speed Limit. During the stop an odor of marijuana was detected.

A search of the truck resulted in the seizure of a digital scale with a trace amount of marijuana was located under a seat, a smoking device and a small baggie with suspected cocaine in a purse.  The female passenger, identified as Laura Maria Washburn (18) of Annapolis was placed under arrest.

 

The driver, Randal Brandon Silvestro (20) of Stevensville was issued traffic Citations and a civil citation for possession and released.

 

Washburn prior to transporting her to Sheriff’s Headquarters indicated she had another baggie of Cocaine and a baggie of marijuana hidden in her pants. With assistance from QA Detention Center those items were recovered.

 

After processing, Washburn was released on an unsecured bond by a District Court Commissioner.

INCIDENT:           Stolen Vehicle Recovery

DATE / TIME:      11/26/2015 @ 1000 Hours

LOCATION:         1300 Block of Dudley Corners Road, Millington, MD (QA)

 

DETAILS:              Wicomico County Sheriff’s Office reported that the GPS unit of a stolen 1994 Freightliner truck was showing a last known location in Millington.

 

Deputy Keith Buscemi responded and located the truck in an area leased from a nearby trucking firm. None of the employees at that location were aware of the truck parked at the rear of the lot.

 

Wicomico County Sheriff’s Office was advised and they made arrangements to recover the truck which was valued at $10,000.

INCIDENT:           Theft from Motor Vehicle

DATE / TIME:      11/27/2015 @ 0336 Hours

LOCATION:         300 Block of Larch Place, Stevensville

 

DETAILS:              Owners of a 2012 Ford Explorer were awakened by a loud noise and their car alarm. A check of the vehicle showed a smashed window and the vehicle unlocked. $330 dollars cash which had been left on the center console was missing.

LOCATION:         100 Block of Jim Jungle Road, Millington (QA)

 

DETAILS:              Victim reported the theft of a camo Moultrie trail camera and a green Moultrie corn feeder that occurred sometime between November 8th to 26th. The items were located near his deer stand deep in the woods accessible only by foot or ATV/Dirt bike. The items were valued at $300.

DATE / TIME:      11/28/2015 @ 1041 Hours (Reported)

LOCATION:         Kent Narrows Bridge Park & Ride, Chester

 

DETAILS:              Victim reported his 2014 Dodge Charger had been vandalized while parked under the bridge. All 4 tires had been slashed, scratched in numerous places and both taillights broken.

 

Victim advised that the car had been parked there since November 15th with a for sale sign in the windshield. Damages were estimated at over $4000.
