INCIDENT:            Theft from Vehicle

DATE / TIME:       5/3/2014 @ 1800 Hours

LOCATION:           Old Love Point Road, Stevensville

VICTIM:                Barbara Evans of Stevensville

 

NARRATIVE:         Victim reported parking her black Subaru Forester at Love Point Park to walk her dog, leaving her purse on the passenger side floor. Upon returning about an hour later discovered her window had been smashed and the purse missing. The purse contained a wallet, cash, various forms of ID, keys, credit cards and checkbook valued at $250. Damages were estimated at under $500.

DATE / TIME:       05/03/2014 @ 1827 Hours

LOCATION:           300 Block of Saddler Road, Grasonville

VICTIM:                Cindy L. Jenkins of Grasonville

 

NARRATIVE:         Victim reported having parked her vehicle, a Mercury SUV next to a building leaving it locked but a window partially down. When she returned to the SUV she found that her Coach wallet was missing along with cash, ID and credit cards valued at $216. No vehicle damage was noted.

LOCATION:           5100 block of Main Street, Grasonville

VICTIM:                Sharon K. Volm of Grasonville

ARREST:               William Edward Volm (30) of Grasonville

CHARGE:              Theft

 

NARRATIVE:         Victim advised she went to use her lap top and discovered it missing. No sign of any forced entry and victim indicated a family member may have taken it. A check of local pawn shops located the computer and had been pawned by the suspected family member.

 

On 5/15/2014 an arrest warrant was served on William E. Volm for theft and held with a set bail of $30,000.

LOCATION:           Old Love Point Park Stevensville

VICTIM:                Lanae N. Mcilree of Grasonville

 

NARRATIVE:         Victim reported parking her GMC Yukon at Old Love Point Park and left to walk the park. Upon returning a ½ hour later found her window had been broken and a diaper bag being stolen. Theft was estimated at $100 and damage at $700.

LOCATION:           Mowbray Park, Stevensville

VICTIM:                Joann Stith of Stevensville

 

NARRATIVE:         Victim stated she was at the park with her children and upon returning to her Toyota Van found someone had smashed the window and taken her purse. The purse contained her iPhone, cash, credit cards and gift cards valued over $450 and damages were estimated at $700.

 

Within minutes the credit cards had been used at several locations on Kent Island. Investigation remains open.

LOCATION:           RT 18 @ Bennett Point Road, Grasonville

VICTIM:                Steve Foxwell of Cambridge

 

NARRATIVE:         Victim reported he had been clearing trees in the area and left his Bush Hog in the field. When he returned a couple weeks later the Bush Hog was gone. The piece of equipment was valued at $13,000. Anyone recall seeing someone loading the bush hog is asked to call (410) 758-0770 of message the Sheriff’s Office FB page.

LOCATION:           Main Street, Queen Anne, MD

VICTIM:                Charles Burrows of Queen Anne

 

NARRATIVE:         Victim reported while he was away during the 1st week of May, someone had taken red Delta work bench saw and a DeWalt grinder valued at $500.

LOCATION:           408 Thompson Creek Road, Stevensville

VICTIM:                Male (90) of Chester

ARREST:               Samantha Elizabeth Griebel of Chester

CHARGE:              Theft

 

NARRATIVE:         Deputy Draper was called to the victim’s bank and advised that the victim’s caregiver had stolen a check, forged it and then cashed the check for $160. Surveillance photo confirmed that Samantha Griebel as the suspect.

 

She was served a criminal summons for theft and forgery on May 13th.

TRAFFIC ARRESTS:            

 

05/04/2014 @ 0124 Hours             Dfc. Jessica Kellogg stopped a Toyota 4 Runner for speeding on Main Street near Wharf Drive, Chester. The driver, Joseph Edward Bents (41) of Pasadena handed the Deputy a credit card when she asked for his driver’s license. With the odor of alcohol present, the driver was requested to attempt Field Sobriety tasks. Based on observations, he was placed under arrest and charged with Driving under the Influence. Joseph Bents was later released on his signature.

 

05/04/2014 @ 0235 Hours             A blue Chevrolet SUV was stopped Deputy Scott Hogan on RT 50 near Grasonville after being observed after driving on the shoulder and crossing the lane lines. Driver was identified as Shawn Ashley Bascom (26) of Olney, MD. Because of an odor of alcohol and his appearance, the driver was asked to attempt several field sobriety tasks. After the attempt, he was placed under arrest for DWI.  While in custody, Bascom became unruly hitting his head on the car, yelling obscenities, refused to be processed and threatening to burn the Sheriff’s building down. Bascom was charged with traffic offenses including DWI & Negligent Driving. He was also charged with Threat of Arson. He was initially held on a $3000 bail until it was posted with the assistance of a bail bondsman.
