INCIDENT:          ACCIDENT SHOOTING

DATE / TIME:     05/23/2014 @ 0755 Hours

LOCATION:         200 Block of Earle Branch Road, Centreville

VICTIM:              Mary O. Martin of Centreville

 

NARRATIVE:       Emergency personnel responded to the residence for an accident shooting. On arrival they found an 82 year old female who had been shot once in the torso. The victim was conscious and able to advise her husband of over thirty years had been showing her an old pistol he had in a drawer when it went off. She was flown to Shock Trauma Center in Baltimore.

 

Roy F. Martin (84) advised his wife was lying on the couch in the living room when he was showing her an old .38 break top pistol he had. Mr. Martin advised he had never fired the pistol and thought it was unloaded. He stated he pulled the trigger once and nothing happened but on the second trigger pull it went off striking his wife. Mr. Martin stated he immediately called911 and placed a towel over the wound until medics arrived.

 

The case remains open at this time and pending review by the States Attorney’s Office.
