NARRATIVE:     Sheriff Gary Hoffman reports that on December 23, 2011 the Queen Anne’s County Office of the Sheriff arrested Gregory Scott Wood of Crumpton for the 2009 theft of a 2002 Harley Davidson motorcycle. Sheriff Hofmann reports that on October 2, 2009, the victim George Sewell reported that he had parked his Harley Davidson motorcycle on his property to advertising the motorcycle being for sale. After a relative failed to return the bike to the garage for the night, someone stole the motorcycle from the front yard of the residence.  Investigation revealed that persons familiar with the motorcycle had observed Wood operating the motorcycle on several occasions. When a person familiar with the stolen motorcycle asked Wood questions about the motorcycle, Wood left the area and was believed to be in the New Jersey area with the bike.

During the week of December 19, 2011 information was received that the stolen Harley Davidson was being stored in the shed of a female acquaintance of the suspect.  Deputies responded to the location and recovered the stolen motorcycle after it was positively identified as the stolen bike. Members of the Patrol Division and the Criminal Investigations Unit of the Office of the Sheriff located the suspect at his residence on Thursday and placed him under arrest.  The suspect was charged with theft, unlawful taking of a motor vehicle and two counts of MDOP. After processing, Wood was taken before the District Court Commissioner where he was released after posting $3,000.00 bail.  This case remains open pending further investigation.
