INCIDENT:           DWI Arrest

DATE / TIME:      06/03/2012 @ 0152 Hours

LOCATION:         RT 50 at RT 456 near Queenstown

ARREST:               Darryl Hughston Ritter (47) of Preston, MD

CHARGE:              DWI

 

NARRATIVE:        White Ford SUV stopped for traveling in an excess of the posted speed limit. Driver of the SUV had the appearance of been drinking and was asked to attempt several field sobriety tasks. As a result, Mr. Ritter was placed under arrest for DWI. At that time he became angry and shouting obscenities. After being transported to Sheriff’s Headquarters, he continued yelling and kicking a holding cell door causing minor damage.

 

Mr. Ritter was issued citation for DWI and later released to a family member. A Criminal Summons was later issued charging him with MDOP.

INCIDENT:           CDS POSSESSION

DATE / TIME:      06/03/2012 @ 1258 Hours

LOCATION:         Sudlersville Park – 206 E Main St., Sudlersville

 

ARREST:               Male (17) of Sudlersville

CHARGE:              Possession of CDS – Marijuana

 

NARRATIVE:        Dfc. Fraser patrolling the Sudlersville Park saw a motor scooter being operated in the park and pulled in where the rider of the scooter and two other males were standing. As he approached the group the odor of marijuana was present. Two of the three had ID and gave it to the deputy. The third male stated he didn’t have any ID. Dfc. Fraser realized he matched a description of a wanted juvenile and confirmed his identity and then took him into custody. A search of the subject resulted in the seizure of a small baggie of suspected marijuana from a cigarette pack. The juvenile was transported to Sheriff’s Headquarters for processing and later released to personnel from Juvenile Justice. A referral was also submitted for possession of CDS.

LOCATION:         300 Block of Brownsville Road, Centreville

VICTIM:               Robert L. Smith of Centreville

 

NARRATIVE:        Victim reported that he heard someone knocking on his window calling for a family member. Victim states he told the man the subject wasn’t there, and the man began to knock on his door. Victim states he went to the door and told the man, an African-American male in his 30’s to leave. Victim then walked the man to the driveway when his family member arrived. Victim states he then had words with the family member and the man. At that time the man punched the victim in the face several times before leaving in a car. Victim was unable to identify his assailant or provide a description of the car. The family member was unavailable to be interviewed.

VICTIM:               Wendy Tyler of Stevensville

ARREST:               Male (14) of Stevensville

NARRATIVE:        Victim reported  a juvenile male had thrown rocks at her residence and a second story window had been broken as a result. The male had fled the scene when the window was broken. A witness was able to ID the male and a Juvenile Referral was submitted to Juvenile Justice.

LOCATION:         2900 Block of McGinnes Road, Crumpton

VICTIM:               James P. Quillen of Crumpton

 

NARRATIVE:        Victim reported someone had entered an unlocked shop building and had stolen two 150’ welding leads and a stainless steel Hypertherm Powermax 1000 Plasma cutting machine. The items were valued at $4,200.

LOCATION:         419 Thompson Creek Road, Stevensville, MD.

VICTIM:               Anchors Away Catering

 

NARRATIVE:        Business Owner Kimberly Dragovich reported finding her company van with a broken driver’s side window. The damage occurred overnight of the 4th to 5th. A closer inspection of the van showed that the ignition had been popped damaging the steering column. Damages were estimated at about $500.

LOCATION:         3028 Kent Narrows Way, Grasonville

VICTIM:               Osborne D. Christensen of Salisbury

 

NARRATIVE:        Victor Redden of Knot 10 Yacht Sales at Kent Narrows reported a boat recently purchased by the victim was missing. Mr. Redden stated when he noticed the boat gone he at first thought it had been picked up by the new owner, however after contacting him realized it had been stolen. The boat was last seen on the afternoon June 5th. It’s description is a 2005 Hydro Sport 24’ with a cabin & hardtop. The boat is pewter in color with a black bottom and had twin Yamaha 200HP 4 strokes engines on a dual axle trailer.

 

Surveillance cameras showed a 2000’s Ford extended cab short bed pick-up truck, possibly a F-250 or larger, two-tone Blue or Black over silver bottom, 4 wheel drive with chrome running boards occupied by two white males.

 

The boat, motors and trailer were valued at $51,000.

ARREST:               Male (16) from Grasonville

CHARGE:              2 Counts of Theft

 

NARRATIVE:        Two students (both from Stevensville) reported that while taking final exams, they had left their backpacks on the bleachers. Upon returning, it was discovered that one was missing a white Apple iPhone and the other a black & silver Apple iPod. Security footage of the gym was reviewed and staff was able to identify a suspect who was observed removing the iPhone. The suspect student was located and admitted the thefts and the items valued at $350 were recovered. Suspect was referred to Juvenile Services.

INCIDENT:           Arson Threat / Medical Emergency / Resisting Arrest

DATE / TIME:      06/06/2012 @ 1934 Hours

LOCATION:         Chester, MD

VICTIM:               Male (15) of Chester

 

NARRATIVE:        Deputies responded to residence in response to a juvenile out of control. On arrival they were advised the juvenile threatening suicide, had possession of a shotgun and had threatened to burn the house after setting his school papers on fire outside the house. As additional units arrived the juvenile was yelling shoot me. Sgt. Jones was able to contact the juvenile by phone and convinced him to come outside which he did. As they went to handcuff him he began to resist and had to be subdued. A loaded shotgun was seized from the house. The juvenile was transported to Anne Arundel Medical Center by Patrol car with additional deputies riding along.

LOCATION:         304 Evans Avenue, Grasonville

VICTIM:               Winchester Liquors

 

NARRATIVE:        Cashier at the location reported a white male exiting the store carrying two 30 Packs of Bud Light without paying. The male appeared to be under 21 and wearing a baseball cap ran to a waiting dark blue or black newer style pickup and fled towards main street of Grasonville. The beer was valued at $44.
