INCIDENT: Stolen Motor Vehicle

DATE / TIME: 10/18/2011 @ 1338 Hours

LOCATION: 103 Shopping Center Road, Stevensville

VICTIM: Lowe’s Automotive, Stevensville, MD

NARRATIVE: Upon arriving in the morning, Ms. Sharon Fleming noticed that the chain across the front parking lot was down. She contacted the owner who was the last to leave the previous day and he stated he had not forgotten to put it up. Later in the afternoon, Ms. Fleming realized that a light yellow 1967 Cadillac Deville two door convertible valued at $20K was missing from the display rack.

INCIDENT: Theft – $10K to $100K

DATE / TIME: 10/17/2011 @ 0830 Hours

LOCATION: Piney Narrows Yacht Haven, Chester, MD

VICTIM: Calvin L. Case of Grasonville

NARRATIVE: Victim advised that he had at the location checking on his equipment and noticed that his yellow Hitachi EX60 VRG Excavator was missing. It was last seen on Friday October 14th. The excavator was valued at $15K-$20K.

INCIDENT: Suspicious Vehicle

DATE / TIME: 10/17/2011 @ 1740 Hours

LOCATION: Cross Island Trail near Romancoke

VICTIM: Female (17) of Stevensville

NARRATIVE: Victim reported that a she was running on the Cross Island Trail when she noticed a white “boxy” style vehicle with tinted windows following her. Victim stated that the vehicle would pass her and then stop on the roadway shoulder until she passed and did so several times. At no time did anyone from the vehicle attempt to contact her or stop her, however the incident made her feel uneasy. Several Sheriff’s Patrol units canvassed the area but the vehicle was not located.

INCIDENT: Trespass on Private Property

DATE / TIME: 10/17/2011 @ 1914 Hours

LOCATION: 100 Block of Brick School House Lane, Centreville

VICTIM: Thomas Bednar of Centreville

ARREST: Oliver Lee Maddox (57) of Centreville

NARRATIVE: Victim advised he had been called by a family member who said that there was a man sitting in Bednar’s 2002 Ford pickup truck parked in the driveway. The man, identified as Oliver Maddow appeared intoxicated and was offered a ride home by both Mr. Bednar and deputies. Mr. Maddox declined and when asked refused to exit Mr. Bednar’s truck. Once removed from the truck, Maddox refused to leave and was placed under arrest and he began to yell and resist requiring deputies to carry him to the patrol car. Once in the rear seat area, he began to kick and beat his head on the window of the cage unit causing a laceration on his forehead. Upon arriving at Sheriff’s Headquarters, Maddox was treated by an EMS Unit.

Maddox was charged with Trespass on Private Property, two counts of Assault, Rogue & Vagabond, Resisting Arrest and Disturbance of the Peace. A District Court Commissioner set bail at $5000 and a property bond was posted and he was released.

INCIDENT: Unlicensed Driver

DATE / TIME: 10/18/2011 @ 0040 Hours

LOCATION: Main Street Grasonville

VICTIM: N/A

ARREST: Male (15) of Grasonville

NARRATIVE: Dfc. Watts stopped a Toyota on Main Street in Grasonville for an equipment violation. The vehicle was occupied by two persons and upon contacting the driver, it was found that he did not have a license as he was only 15 years old. The female passenger also advised she was only 15 as well. Parents of both youths were contacted and responded to the location. The driver was issued a Juvenile Motor Vehicle Complaint and was released to his parents.

INCIDENT: Theft

DATE / TIME: 10/18/2011 @ 1047 Hours

LOCATION: Winchester Liquors @ Grasonville

VICTIM: Winchester Liquors

NARRATIVE: The store clerk at Winchester Liquors reported that a male suspect had entered the store and stood near the vodka section for several minutes. When the clerk became busy with another customer, the male attempt to leave and was confronted by the clerk. The male admitted to having two 750ml bottles of Grey Goose and placed them on the counter and left the store. The clerk was able to see that the subject left the area in a Ford Taurus with Maryland tags. Upon reviewing security footage of the incident it was determined that the suspect had placed two bottles in his jacket and two additional bottles in his pants. The stolen bottles were valued at $72.00

The tag was registered to a rental car company in Edgewood, MD and rented by a female subject in Reisterstown. The suspect was described as an African American Male about 6’1” – 180 Pounds in his mid 30’s with a mustache wearing blue jeans and a blue denim jacket with a large Yale University logo on the back.

LOCATION: 100 Block of Essex Road, Chestertown

VICTIM: Mary M. Stubbs of Chestertown

NARRATIVE: Victim advised she had lent her plastic igloo doghouse to her neighbor and that it was now missing. The neighbor advised that she was unaware of the doghouse to be missing. The doghouse was valued at $200.

INCIDENT: MDOP

DATE / TIME: 10/19/2011 @ 1534 Hours

LOCATION: 200 Block of Burton Air Drive, Centreville

VICTIM: Steven M. Donovan and Esteban T. Orellana of Centreville

NARRATIVE: Victims reported that their vehicles had been broken into. Mr. Donovan’s 2011 Ford Escape and his neighbor, Mr. Orellana’s 2011 Honda Accord both had had the passenger window smashed. Nothing appeared to have been taken from either vehicle. Damages to the vehicles were estimated at $250 each.

INCIDENT: Burglary

DATE / TIME: 10/20/2011 @ 0716 Hours

LOCATION: Construction Site of the new Sudlersville Middle School

VICTIM: Nickle Electric Company of Chestertown

NARRATIVE: The foreman for Nickle Electric at the job site, Timothy Shipp reported that he had left a large pile of copper wire behind a locked door inside the school pending shipment to the scrap yard. Upon arriving this morning, the scrap wire valued at $4000 and large enough to fill an 8 foot pickup bed was missing. A security camera mounted in the room was also missing. Later the camera was located in the Sudlersville Park with the photo card missing. The Sheriff’s Criminal Investigation Unit has been assigned to the case for follow-up.

INCIDENT: Theft

DATE / TIME: 10/18/2011 @ 0830 Hours

LOCATION: 700 Block of Del Rhodes Avenue, Queenstown

VICTIM: David W. Stevens

NARRATIVE: Victim advised he had numerous pieces of scrap metal stored at the location and discovered it missing. The theft is believed to have occurred sometime between Monday 10/17 and today. Some of the items taken were pieces of 6” and 8” pipe, pieces ornamental iron handrail, six foot tall packers scaffold (yellow) and 40 plus feet of red oxide “C” Channel valued at $300.
