QA SHERIFF PRESS RELEASE – BURGLARY ARREST 4/9

INCIDENT:           BURGLARY

DATE / TIME:      04/07/2012 @ 0435 Hours

LOCATION:         5124 Sudlersville Road, Sudlersville           

VICTIM:               Darlene’s Tavern

ARREST:               James Edward Stubbs II (30) of Henderson, MD

CHARGES:            Burglary 2nd Degree / Burglary 4th Degree / Theft under $1000 (2 Counts) / Theft less than $100 / MDOP over $500 (2 Counts) / MDOP under $500 (3 Counts) / Burglary 4th degree with Tools

 

NARRATIVE:        Cpl. Russell was dispatched to location for an alarm at Darlene’s Tavern near Sudlersville. While responding a second alarm was set off. As Cpl. Russell and MSP Trooper Weist arrived they saw a small red Chevrolet passenger pulled up to the door and with an interior light on. As they approached the door of the business they saw a white male in a hooded sweatshirt exiting carrying a cash register. The suspect tossed the cash register in the Chevrolet’s passenger seat and began to get in the driver’s seat. At that time, Russell and Weist announced their presence.  The suspect just sat in the seat staring at the steering wheel and was removed from the car.

 

                                             The suspect had $876 dollars in his pants pocket along with some change. A pry bar was also on the seat of the car. Investigation showed that the door of the business had been pried open. Dfc. Boyles arrived and made a search of the business with K9 Beny and no one else was located. Once inside the business it was noted that the jukebox had been pried open and all the cash removed from the dollar bill changer and a MD lottery KENO machine on the floor missing the cash drawer (later located in the suspect’s vehicle. A ½ Gallon bottle of rum was also located in the suspect’s vehicle. All of the subjects actions inside the business was captured on security video.

 

                              The suspect, James E. Stubbs was transported to the Sheriff’s Headquarters in Centreville for processing. He was later seen by a District Court Commissioner who held Stubbs on a $40,000 Bond. At a bail review on Monday bail was increased to $50,000. He is being held at the QA County Detention Center.
