VICTIM:                       Morton Gibbons-Neff of Chestertown, Queen Anne’s Co. Maryland

 

ARREST:                      Charles William Jones III (26) of Chestertown, Kent Co. Maryland

                                    Danielle Lynn Jones (22) of Chestertown, Kent Co. Maryland

CHARGES:                   Burglary-Second Degree

                                    Burglary-Second Degree/Firearm

                                    Conspiracy Burglary-Second Degree/Firearm

                                    Theft-Value $10,000 to Under $100,000

                                    Theft-Value $1,000 to Under $10,000

 

NARRATIVE:                Sheriff Gary Hofmann reports that on August 27, 2012 the Queen Anne’s County Office of the Sheriff received a complaint of a burglary from 301 Clovelly Lane Chestertown, QA Co. Maryland.  At this time the victim reported that suspects had entered his office and stole fourteen rifles and shotguns along with two laptop computers and two scopes with an estimated value of $19,850. 

 

After The Office of the Sheriff received information that the weapons, computers and scopes had been sold to an undercover agent of the ATF in West Virginia, Det. Maria Bassaro of the Criminal Investigations Unit then conducted a joint criminal investigation with the ATF involving the theft and subsequent sale of weapons. The investigation revealed that Charles William Jones III and his spouse Danielle Lynn Jones of Chestertown, (Kent Co.) as suspects of the burglary of 301 Clovelly Lane Chestertown, MD as well as additional incidents occurring in West Virginia.

 

According to Sheriff Hofmann on August 31, 2012 Det. Bassaro, additional detectives of the Office of the Sheriff Criminal Investigations Unit and the ATF conducted a multi-agency operation involving the Chestertown Police Department at 104 Maple Ave. Chestertown, Kent Co. Maryland that resulted in the arrest of Charles William Jones III and his spouse Danielle Lynn Jones.  During the arrest evidence was found of possible criminal activity in Kent County Maryland and that evidence was subsequently released to the Chestertown Police Department for continued investigation.

 

Charles William Jones III and Danielle Lynn Jones were both taken before the District Court Commissioner for the following charges: Burglary-Second Degree, Burglary-Second Degree/Firearm, Conspiracy Burglary-Second Degree/Firearm, Theft-Value $10,000 to Under $100,000 and Theft-Value $1,000 to Under $10,000.  Charles William Jones III was ordered held at the Queen Anne’s County Detention Center in lieu of $75,000 bond and Danielle Lynn Jones was ordered held at the Queen Anne’s County Detention Center in lieu of $40,000 bond.  Charles William Jones III was also served with an outstanding arrest warrant from Anne Arundel County Maryland for an prior assault case and was subsequently issued an bond of $10,000 in addition to the burglary arrest.  Sheriff Hofmann confirmed that additional charges for Charles William Jones III and Danielle Lynn Jones are pending in West Virginia.
