Narrative:
Deputy Gardner responded to the Outlets at Queenstown for a report of subjects shoplifting. Upon arrival, a silver Ford Focus was pointed out by security to be containing the suspect. At that time the Ford began to back up at a high rate of speed thru the parking lot, almost striking several pedestrians and going opposite the traffic flow. The car continued backwards, turning left behind the stores and coming to rest behind LL Bean.
Deputy Gardner drove up to the car and made contact with the occupants. The driver identified himself as Shane Miller by his identification card. A check with MVA indicated he was currently suspended and he was placed under arrest.
An Old Navy employee reported that Mr. Miller and a female were in the store and Miller was observed pulling a store bag from his pants and began to put baby clothes in the bag. When the store manager approached the subjects the woman started to return items, but Mr. Miller quickly left the store without paying.
At this time a female walked up and identified herself as Jennifer Martin. The store employee confirmed this subject as the female with Mr. Miller in the store. A search of the car resulted in locating Old Navy items with a value of $128.00, G.H. Bass items valued at $149.97, Banana Republic items valued at $39.99. Also in the car were several empty shopping bags from stores at the Outlets. Neither of the subjects could produce a sales receipt for any of the items in the car.
The pair were placed under arrest and transported to the Sheriff's Office for processing. While at the office, Deputy Gardner received a call from a Jennifer Martin who was looking for her sister, Suprina Holbrook. The female subject in custody then admitted to being Suprina Holbrook and intentionally gave a false name.
Miller was charged with Theft under $500 and Driving while suspended and was held on a $5,000 Bond. Suprina Holbrook was charged with Theft under $500 and Giving a False Name and held on a $10,000 Bond.
