As the Sheriff, I want to let you know that I appreciate the time you take to fill out the form regarding compliments on my staff. I am pleased to receive comments about their performance as this is an excellent evaluation tool and an important component in feedback from the community that we serve. I am very proud of my staff as they demonstrate a positive commitment to our community. When we receive your compliment, a copy is given to the deputy and also their supervisors. We also place a copy of your compliment in their personnel folder and it is also posted on our "Deputy Thanks" Bulletin board in our hallway so that the deputies can see how much support the community gives them.

Citizens may call Headquarters to make their initial compliment,  community concern or complaint at 410-758-0770.

Pursuant to Maryland Law, any complaint of improper use of force must be signed and sworn to under penalty of perjury within 366 days of the incident. The aggrieved individuals, immediate family member, person present at the alleged incident or someone who has a video recording of the incident that, to the individual’s knowledge, is unaltered or the parent/guardian of a minor child.

False accusations or statements which cause an investigation may lead to civil and criminal actions.

The investigator to which the case has been assigned will contact the complainant for complaints against personnel.

The complainant will be informed of the final disposition of a complaint and any discipline imposed.
